Louis John Michael Jacques was born on June 6, 1916 to an English father and a "Kek" mother from Indonesia. His father spoke English and his mother spoke Hokkien. So how did this couple communicate? Bro. Michael said, "In Malay ofcourse!"

Bro. Michael who has a typical "Mat Salleh" look did not recieve any formal English language education until the age of 6 when he returned to England! Can you believe that? But today, Louie John Michael Jacques speaks fluent Malay, English, French, Italian, Kantonis, Hokkien and Hakka!

Today, James, Nicholas and I had dinner (courtesy of James Sia) together. The plan was that James suppose to pass me the FCKL membership list. He brought Bro Michael along and it was really amazing to know that Bro Michael closer. A great man indeed. He has worked with granc uncle, cheif clerk, Cheong Sian Chiang and also an uncle who is also a senior teacher in SFI, Cheong Koon Tiong.

Did you know that Bro Michael Jacques is the man responsible in implenting the Green & White uniform. He spoke to me that he was not really happy with how the boys presented themselves in school. Some were really dirty. He told himself that this couldn't be. He announced in school that he gave 1 year for the boys to get their green and white uniforms. White shirts and green pants.

I asked him if he could have set the standards of today's uniform? His answer was he is not aware about other schools setting a uniform standards. Coincidently, that the schools today uses the green and white uniform. So could it be that our dear Bro. Michael started this?

What's the main reason of the uniform? Without uniforms, you can tell the difference between the rich and the poor. A noble effort to treat everyone equally.

hi. i'm actually not a student of la salle. i registered just to say something about brother louis. i'm a student nurse in assunta hospital where brother louis was before he passed away. i dont remember many of the patients that i've nursed but i remember brother louis vividly. and i would remember him as long as i still have my memory. he wasnt able to speak when i met him... but some or rather he helped me strengthen my faith in God. i dont know how to explain it but he did that. i didnt know he was a famous man until i saw his book. i feel honoured now to know that i have nursed such a great man.
